The city of York, Pennsylvania has always been a bedrock of American history and industrious grit. From serving as the temporary home of the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary War to witnessing the drafting of the Articles of Confederation, this community knows how to build foundations. By the late 19th century, that spirit transformed York into a booming industrial powerhouse.
Right at the center of that boom was 441 E. Market Street.
Originally founded in 1888 as the York Wire Cloth Company, this expansive historic landmark spent over a century anchoring the local economy - first weaving wire cloth for insect screening, and later producing high-speed industrial aluminum mesh as the New York Wire Company. Today, the echoes of that tireless work ethic still live within our walls, where some of the building's original looms and historic wire spools remain preserved.
